Soju is a traditional Korean Liquor distilled from rice, barley and sweet potato. Soju has a lightly sweet, transparent taste with a deep, smooth and crisp finish, a fruity and mellow aroma, and excellent mixing properties similar to Vodka. In Asia, Soju is traditionally enjoyed straight, chilled or on the rocks with meals. In the U.S., however, Soju has been gaining in popularity as a base for cocktails because, like Vodka, it is highly versatile and blends extremely well with fruit juices, soft drinks and traditional bar mixers. The versatile Soju turns a standard issue of Vodka's harsh bite to a unexpected trace of sweetness, and opens the door to a provocative range of eastern inspired cocktails. Although Vodka mixed drinks are stronger, with Soju, a lightweight like our Captain chef Ken can walk straight after few mixed drinks.
